Perfect central place for the Fairy Godmother of the Bride

My large family, coming from 5 different states descended on Bald Head Island for the wedding of the century, for my niece. When I first heard of the idea of renting a house with so many "moving parts", I thought "oh dear". We had to make reservations a year in advance, lock things in 6 months in advance, pay in full 60 days in advance. I'll cut right to the chase - it could not have gone better and Marsh Madness was the perfect place for our family and merry making!
First of all - the house. As people were making plans, we thought we'd have between 8 and 18 people. . . .and a dog. We thought about two places, but Marsh Madness was large enough to accommodate if everyone came (and a dog) and was a reasonable price if we had a smaller group. Again, the wedding angels shone upon us, we had 16 people (and a dog) with people coming and going, and it was perfect.
Our group was all adults (chronologically speaking) so the 5 bedrooms, all with their own bathrooms were perfect to allow privacy (especially because our group included a new boyfriend and family friends who probably got to know us a little more than they may have liked). The three bedrooms (on the ground level) were connected on the outside by screened in porches - perfect for secret chats.
Location - the reception was at The Shoal's Club - how wonderful we were so close to the venue, especially when you are trying to move so many people!
We also hosted a going away brunch - and there was lots of room with a nice living area, two huge porches (but of course, everyone wants to be in the kitchen "helping") and the kitchen accommodated that.
Finally, and most importantly - I have some gourmet cooks in my group - they oo'ed and aww'ed over the knives and pots and pans - enough plates for a group and two ice machines that came in very handy. One of my jobs was to make cookies for the wedding - I brought a little Barbie sized hand mixer and was greeted by a professional grade Kitchen aid master - perfect for making lots of frosting. I felt like somewhere along the way, I met a genie, made three wishes and Marsh Madness made them all come true.
It's a beautiful place, with the back porch looking over the Marsh. I loved the quiet mornings with a cup of coffee, before the Madness took over. I love the Madness, too.
If I return to Bald Head Island, I can't imagine staying anywhere other than Marsh Madness. The folks at Bald Head were accommodating, talking to me every week, someone's coming early, someone's coming late, someone's not coming, oops, yes they are, missed the ferry, got the earlier ferry - and they helped at every step. They were there, but we weren't being watched.
I never staying in a family's house before, but if the family reads this, thank you for being part of the wedding. It was magical

We love Bald Head. Even a bad house on Bald Head would be divine. That said, when we arrived at Marsh Madness for a family reunion of the East and West branches of the family tree it was icing on the cake. Marsh Madness is by far the most well thought out and equipped home we have ever rented. I also loved the decor--- lots of beautifully framed prints of universities and their teams, along with maps and coastal images. It was such a pleasant change from the typical beach decor. The kitchen was unreal in terms of all of the accouterments and quality of equipment. Then tack on wrap around porches and the wonderful views of the marsh. The privacy for our grandmothers in the adjacent crofters was fantastic too.
The fact that it was pet friendly was key for us and I always expect wear and tear in homes that allow pets. Not evident here. You would never know it.
I had a couple of issued that required management and the staff were super responsive. No problems at all getting help. If we come back and have a crowd this large again, I would definitely rent March Madness.
It was wonderfully relaxing.

Great house and vacation spot

We rented this house as one of three for a family reunion of 19 people and 4 dogs. This house was perfect for us - 5 bedrooms in main house and 2 bedrooms in crofters, great kitchen and plenty of places for everyone to sit for our evening meals. Bald Head Island is fabulous though getting there is a bit of a pain, but once you're on the island, it feels like you're a million miles away from civilization - beautiful beaches, great swimming pools, expansive marsh views from this house. If we return for next year's reunion, we'll probably choose another week since the week of the 4th was crazy busy and grocery store kept running out of things. Also, BHI LLC made an accusation of smoking inside one of the crofters and imposed a $500 fine without asking me if, in fact, someone in our party had smoked in the room, which did not happen. I really resent the tone of the email I received from the company and cannot get anyone to respond to my request to credit my card for the fine. So, not happy about that which has nothing to do with the house but does have something to do with the company.
One Wonderful Week!

Our family of 15 had the best time staying in this beautiful home on the nicest little island. The week was filled with fun and relaxation on the beach, the pool and in the house. The children had so much fun everywhere we went and can't wait to come back next year!
Everyone was most helpful and pleasant to work with during our stay and we would highly recommend this kind of trip to anyone who wants to connect with their whole family in one place!
