One of three historic cottages once home to the namesake lighthouse keeper, this Bald Head Island vacation home offers plenty of period charm. The wood-clad walls are painted white, as is the tongue-and-groove ceiling. An open deck adds to the living space. Sleeps 6 (max.). 3 bedrooms (1Q-1Q-2T). 1 full bath. (1) 4 passenger cart. Direct beach access. Sunday/Sunday. 5:30 p.m. arrival/11:30 a.m. departure.
Lovely historic cottage with beautiful views.

Our arrival from the Southport ferry terminal to the cottage went flawlessly, which we appreciated after a long drive! The return service was equally organized.
We loved our stay in Captain Charlie's I cottage. The views were beautiful and the cottage lovely. We especially loved the outdoor spaces and the walkway to the beach. The cottage was comfortably furnished, and we appreciated the attention to detail throughout the home. The kitchen and amenities were really nice. (The refrigerator didn't shut on its own, though).
Our one major complaint is that the bed in the downstairs bedroom was very creaky and seemed a bit unstable. It's probably time to replace the mattress and box springs; the current one is held up with a post and nail.
Minor adjustments could include a covered trashcan in the kitchen and a replacement trashcan in the bathroom, and an upgrade to the coffee maker and a coffee grinder would be nice. The windows didn't stay open, which would have been nice; perhaps a mechanism to prop them open could be installed.
We loved the golf carts, but some of the chargers near the Captain Charlie's cottages were not working.
Overall we had a wonderful and relaxing week and plan to return to BHI!
