Bald Hed Island, LLC Sells Eb & Flo's Steambar to Long-time Bald Head Island Property Owners

Bald Head Island, NC (September 13, 2011) – Bald Head Island Limited, LLC is pleased to announce the sale of Eb & Flo’s Steambar on Bald Head Island to John Pitera of Bald Head Island, N.C. and his brother Tom Pitera of Twinsburg, Ohio.

“We’re very pleased to transition Eb & Flo’s Steambar to such capable and enthusiastic new owners,” said Charles A. Paul, III, CEO of Bald Head Island Limited, LLC. “John and Tom Pitera will bring entrepreneurial business experience, corporate management experience, restaurant expertise, and a passion for Bald Head Island to their new venture.”

John Pitera and his wife Andrea have owned a residence on Bald Head Island since 2000, and are the former owners of Tables and Chairs and More in Stamford, Connecticut. They sold the business in 1999 prior to moving to Bald Head Island as full time residents. Tom Pitera, a property owner on the island since 2008, has been a senior management executive at several large corporations during his career and is also the former owner of a restaurant in New Jersey. Tom will continue to maintain his primary residence in Ohio.

“Bald Head Island Limited’s long-term development plan includes having a diverse and thriving business community. That diversity can only be achieved by bringing in third-party owners and operators who share the island’s core values,” said Paul. “The Piteras’ passion for Bald Head Island and their desire to enhance the way of life for visitors and property owners is very evident, and will help to fuel their success,” Paul continued.

“Being a long-time resident of Bald Head Island, I’ve always been interested in the improvement of the businesses and services being provided on the island,” said John Pitera. “Owning Eb & Flo’s now gives us the opportunity to personally contribute to the improvement of those services being offered.”

“I’ve always believed Bald Head Island offered a unique investment opportunity,” added Tom Pitera. “Purchasing Eb & Flo’s now gives us the chance to invest further in a wonderful community, and take the Eb & Flo’s restaurant concept to a new level. The location has always been fabulous, and it is our hope to combine that attribute with expanded menu offerings and excellent service.”

The Piteras are planning to introduce changes to the restaurant’s menu over the coming months, including a variety of fresh and seasonal ingredients, many of which will come from local suppliers. In addition, the Piteras plan to add breakfast to the restaurant’s menu offerings in the very near future. It is anticipated that the restaurant’s name will be changed to “MoJo’s on the Harbor.”

“Together, we bring a unique mix of entrepreneurial spirit and corporate business acumen to a new venture,” said John Pitera. “While we’re excited about working together for the first time, we’re committed to bringing the island a fresh dining experience that will attract locals and visitors alike, and keep them coming back for more.”

Eb & Flo’s Steambar overlooks the Bald Head Island Marina and offers indoor and outdoor dining, plus a full service bar. Known for its fresh seafood and relaxed atmosphere, the restaurant has twice been recognized by Coastal Living magazine as one of the country’s “Best Coastal Dives.” Bald Head Island is a resort and residential community located two miles off the coast of Southport, NC.
