Bald Head Island Featured In Coastal Living, Real Simple and Travel and Leisure Golf Magazines

BALD HEAD ISLAND, NC – Bald Head Island has been getting its fair share of accolades in the press in recent months – the quiet island was featured in the March and April issues of Coastal Living, as well as the premier issue of Real Simple Travel. In addition, Bald Head Island was named one of America’s Top 100 Golf Communities by Travel and Leisure Magazine for the second year in a row. 

The March issue of Coastal Living featured a “healthy” home on Bald Head Island, designed with building materials that don’t release toxins into the atmosphere.  The home, designed by Wilmington architect Cothran Harris, was built entirely with timber framing – no treated wood or plywood was used – and no fiberglass. 

Coastal Living’s April issue features a cover photo and four-page spread on the vacation home of Bill Cohwer, former coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers, which overlooks the island’s marina. 

Real Simple Travel, a new title from Real Simple, included Bald Head Island in an article called “Choose Your Own Adventure,” which featured domestic island vacation destinations that are easily accessible.  Other islands mentioned included Catalina, off the coast of California, and Block Island, RI.
