Bald Head Island Architects’ Designs Featured in Nationally Distributed Cottage Book

Bald Head Island, N.C. – Two cottage homes designed by Wilmington-based architects Chuck and Anna Dietsche, of Dietsche+Dietsche Architects, PC, are featured in the newly released coffee table book, Cottage: America’s Favorite Home Inside and Out. Both featured cottages are located on Bald Head Island, a vacation and second home destination located just off the southeastern coast of North Carolina. The Dietsches have designed many homes on the island.

The book, published by Taunton Press, features photos, floor plans and information about 24 cottages located across the country, from the Florida Panhandle to the Pacific Northwest. The Dietsches are one of only three architecture firms to have multiple designs featured in Cottage. One of the cottages on Bald Head has been deemed the “upside down” cottage for its unique floor plan – the Dietsche’s put the living area on the second floor to take advantage of the stunning ocean views. The second cottage, named “Beaux Soleil,” or “Beautiful Sunshine,” is a modern reinterpretation of a classic Queen Anne cottage. It overlooks the tidal marsh and Bald Head Creek.

“Bald Head Island is such a lovely and serene place,” said Mr. Dietsche, “We want our work to embrace the natural beauty of the environment. The island truly inspires us.”

The Dietsches are a husband and wife team – Mr. Dietsche does most of the architectural design while Mrs. Dietsche works on interior design. Both hold degrees in architecture from Cornell University. In addition to working on Bald Head Island, the couple owns a home of their own there. To learn more about Dietsche+Dietsche, visit their website at www.dietschedietsche.com.
