It's Time to Unwind on Bald Head Island

Can you believe this year is wrapping up so quickly? Does anyone else feel like it flew by? We made our goals and started the year out strong and now we are at full speed. With the pandemic, things tend to be unpredictable. Whether it has made a big impact on you personally or not, we could all use a break from reality. What better place to go to for some relaxation than Bald Head Island? This lovely area is laid back and peaceful, making it the perfect destination for some much-needed downtime. Here are some of our favorite ways to relax on a Bald Head Island vacation.

You can’t go wrong with some time spent at the spa. Island Retreat Spa and Salon has something for everyone looking for a place to unwind. Treat yourself to some pampering and enjoy a massage, facial, manicure, or all of the above! The spa is also home to the island’s only professional yoga studio space where you can participate in yoga, barre, and pilates. Leave your stress at the spa and head back completely refreshed. 

Get a unique view of the island by taking a kayak ride through the creeks. You can rent your own at The Sail Shop and even take a guided tour from a professional. A guide will help you navigate the creeks, identify wildlife, and give a brief history of the island. Paddle boarding is another fun thing to do that is very relaxing when you get the hang of it. Paddle out in the water and enjoy the peaceful cruise while looking for marine life. 

There is nothing like a Bald Head Island sunrise. Some people prefer to sleep in on vacation but you will not want to miss one breathtaking sunrise at the beach. Many Bald Head Island vacation rentals have beach access. Take a walk along the water listening to the waves and taking in all the colors of the morning. Or take advantage of the spacious deck and enjoy the warm sun while reading a book. Play some cards with the crew or listen to music from your hammock. You're on island time so no need to rush to appointments.

The island offers over 15 miles of roadway so there is plenty of space for a bike ride. Rent a beach cruiser from Coastal Urge and take a nice ride around the island. Tandem bikes are available so there is room for two! Riverside Adventure Company also has rentals that include children’s bikes with training wheels, bikes with baby seats, and Pedego electric bikes. The slow pace of the island makes it a perfect place to just pedal around enjoying the fresh air and beautiful sights.
