Things to do On Your Bald Head Island Summer Vacation

Many of us have the fondest memories of our summer vacations when we were a kid. Getting out of school was exciting but most summers included a fun getaway. If you’re planning a beach vacation, Bald Head Island is the place to be! Besides stunning scenery, it’s a quiet and laidback island that is perfect for the whole family to enjoy. Here are some of our favorite summer things to do on Bald Head Island.

The best way to stay cool on sunny days on Bald Head Island beaches is to get in the water. Take advantage of the water sports rentals and start a new hobby! Rent a stand-up paddleboard or surfboard from Coastal Urge and spend the day out on the waves. For our littles, grab a boogie board or trendy float. Just don’t forget your sunscreen!

On episode two of our Kid Bits Series, Megan shows us a great way to cool off. Mike’s Bites has Italian Ice and it’s one of the best sweet treats around. Beat the heat on the island with your favorite flavor and come back for more all summer long. You can find Mike’s Bites at the BHI Conservancy campus. 

The island has miles of roadway ideal for bike riding. Rent a bike from Riverside Adventure Company and grab a friend to take a cruise for a tour around the island. The wind blowing your hair and sunshine on your skin will be sure to make the best summer memories.

There are a number of summer camps to take advantage of on Bald Head Island for kids of all ages. Budding Naturalists, Junior Scientists, and Conservancy Corps are great programs from the BHI Conservancy that teach kids to have fun in nature while learning about plants and animals. The Bald Head Island Club has a program including golf and tennis instruction, swimming, and field trips. 

All About Art offers arts and craft classes during the summer that kids and adults alike have enjoyed. Learn about photography and weaving and take painting classes either with a group or privately. The beautiful scenery of the island will give you tons of inspiration to unleash your creativity.
