Preparation is key when it comes to healthy eating. Even when going out you can prepare by knowing what’s on the menu ahead of time and deciding what to order before you arrive. Mojo’s on the Harbor has plenty of healthy options on the menu. Start with an order of edamame then top off a healthy salad with grilled salmon. The fresh fish tacos are a great choice as well since they are grilled and not fried.
The Bald Head Island Club as well as the Shoals Club offer a variety of dining venues all with healthy food options. The freshest of grilled seafood and lean meats can be found on the menu as well as steamed vegetables, green salads and fresh fruits. For healthy meals on the go or snacks to enjoy at the beach stop by Maritime Market Café.
Bald Head Island Premier Vacation Rentals are not only in the best locations, they have fully equipped kitchens that make healthy eating easy. Make your favorite healthy recipe to enjoy on the wrap around deck overlooking the beach. Here’s one of my favorite healthy Bald Head Island recipes: Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add one finely chopped shallot and cook till it begins to soften. Then add 4 cloves of garlic and cook for 30 seconds before adding 1 pound of large shrimp that has been peeled and deveined along with 1 teaspoon of salt, ½ teaspoon of red pepper flakes and ¼ teaspoon of black pepper. Sautee for 3 minutes then add ¼ cup of white wine, the zest of ½ a lemon and ¼ cup of freshly squeezed lemon juice. Bring to a boil and cook for 1 minute before stirring in 1 ½ pounds of zucchini noodles and ¼ cup of chopped fresh parsley. Toss the noodles and shrimp so they are coated with sauce and heat till warmed through. Serve with a sprinkle of Parmesan.
