How to Start Your Vacation with a Bald Head Island Ferry Ride

Start your relaxing vacation with a ride on the Bald Head Island passenger ferry that departs from Deep Point Marina in Southport, NC.  


Preparing for Your Ferry Ride: 
During our busy season, the passenger ferries leave Deep Point Marina every hour beginning at 6:00 a.m. allowing you to start your getaway early.  If you are driving or need a later arrival, the last ferry departs the mainland at 11:00 p.m. through Labor Day Weekend. 

The ferries leave Bald Head Island returning to Deep Point Marina on the half-hour.  Please note that schedules change during the Winter season.

When you arrive at Deep Point Marina, you can let passengers off and drop your baggage on the lower or top level during the summer. Round-trip tickets can be purchased on the upper level and cost $22 for adults, $11 for children ages 3-12. All baggage will be loaded onto conveyor belts for you.  If you have a large item such as a bicycle, you will need to purchase an Oversized Baggage ticket and load them on the ferry from the lower level curb.  


Once you have dropped your luggage with Bald Head Island staff, drivers can park in the General Parking Lot, owned by Bald Head Island Limited, located a short distance from the ferry terminal.  Parking fees are $8-10/day depending upon time of year.


While waiting for your ferry departure, you can visit the snack bar, restrooms, indoor or outdoor waiting areas on the top level. There are both elevators and stairs leading to the lower level of Deep Point Marina. When it is time to board the ferry, you will present your ticket to the Gate Agent who will accept and scan your ticket.  You will then be welcomed onto the ferry where you can find a seat for the 25 minute journey to Bald Head Island.


When you arrive on Bald Head Island, you will look for your tram assignment or rent a golf cart.  You can make a tram reservation by calling (910) 457-5003 or book online here.  Once you know your tram number, you can claim your luggage and proceed to your assigned tram.  If you need to rent a golf cart, you can make reservations in advance by calling (910) 457-7333.
