5 Things to do on a Rainy Day in Bald Head Island

They say April showers bring May flowers so this month you might get some rainy days. But what do you do in beautiful Bald Head Island when it’s rainy out? Exploring the beach and the hiking trails are popular things to do but not as popular when it’s raining. Here are some of our favorite things to do when the weather is not ideal. 

Shopping – While Bald Head Island doesn’t have a huge selection of shopping malls, there are plenty of great shops to bring back something special for yourself or friends. Check out Merchant’s Row for some locally-made, unique merchandise. All About Art features paintings, photography, jewelry, and more by local and regional artists. There is even a studio onsite that offers art demonstrations and workshops on select days. (Another fun idea for a rainy day!) Bald Head Blues is located next to Maritime Market and offers coastal clothing and accessories. You can also check out Coastal Urge Retail Shop for activewear, swimwear, shoes, and more including a wide selection of popular outdoor brands. 

Movie Day – Most of us don’t get a lot of time to just be a couch potato and binge watch our favorite shows or movies. When a rainy day comes along, sometimes you’re “forced” to just check out for a while and finally get to enjoy doing nothing. Bald Head Island vacation rentals include a number of spacious homes with comfortable family rooms for everyone to spread out and watch their favorite films. Date Night – Leave the kids at home and get dinner together for a (most likely) much needed date night. Porch Party – Many Bald Head Island premier properties boast expansive decks with panoramic views of the beach. Put on your best playlist and have everyone dance out on the covered porch. Bring drinks and snacks outside and have dance party with your favorite people. Or if you’re the quiet type, take advantage of the peaceful environment and curl up in a hammock with a good book.
