Once you have visited Bald Head Island, it will hold a special place in your heart and you’ll be eager for your next trip. Recently, Huffington Post named the magical island 1 of 5 Islands to Escape to This Summer. Also on the list are Sanibel Island, Florida, Nantucket, Massachusetts, and Cumberland Island, Georgia. But it’s no wonder why our beloved Bald Head Island made the list. Beaches, marshes, historic sites, and stunning views make it a truly perfect place to escape.

Bald Head Island boasts 14 miles of pristine beaches ideal for relaxing, swimming, sand castles, or water sports. There’s also 15 miles of roadway for a nice bike ride around the island. Bike rentals and beach equipment are available at Coastal Urge and Riverside Adventure Company. Take a hike through the Maritime Forest Preserves and enjoy a quiet walk among nature. Get the best view of Bald Head Island from the top of Old Baldy. North Carolina’s oldest standing lighthouse has 108 steps but it’s worth the climb! For dinner, try Delphina Cantina for delicious Latin Cuisine or Mojo’s on the Harbor for tasty seafood dishes and a sushi bar. Or you can unwind at Will O’ the Wisp next to the Sail Shop for drinks by the river.

One of the best things about Bald Head Island is there are no cars, visitors travel by golf cart or bicycles. The laid-back atmosphere encourages you to truly relax and escape from your day-to-day routine. So grab your friends and family and book your Bald Head Island vacation for the island escape you deserve.
