Winter in Bald Head Island

On a recent online poll, readers were asked what was their favorite time to visit Bald Head Island. While some did have a favorite season, the majority said any time on the island was wonderful. So if you’re wondering if this winter is a good time to plan a Bald Head Island vacation, it is! Here are some reasons why:

It’s not too cold! Some look forward to freezing temperatures and snowy activities but others want the chill of a winter season for scarves and fires without the freeze. During the winter months in Bald Head Island, temps often stay in the 60’s. You can layer up for coffee on your deck overlooking the beach as you peel off those layers throughout the day.

From November 23rd to the 25th, visitors can enjoy special dining events at the Bald Head Island Club and Shoals Club for Thanksgiving festivities. There will also be an annual “Old Baldy Light up the Holidays” event at the BHI Club. December 24th-31st, there will be Christmas and New Year’s Eve parties and special dining events at select Bald Head Island venues. Check our calendar for event details.

The beauty of Bald Head Island can be enjoyed throughout the year. Hiking is a popular activity that can be done any season. Checking out the trails and spying on the wildlife is fun for all ages. You can look up some Geocaching spots and add to a hidden treasure. The island also boasts 14 miles of pristine beaches to explore. Listening to waves crash or catching a stunning sunset is a must for every beach vacation. You can hit the links at Bald Head Island Club’s golf course that winds around Old Baldy and gives great island views.

You can browse our selection of premier properties with expansive wrap-around decks, fireplaces to curl up by, beautiful ocean views or nestled in the charming maritime forests, and several bedrooms to accommodate your family and friends for the holidays! Come see for yourself: winter on Bald Head Island brings its own charm but is just as lovely as every other season.
