Another Great Year for Bald Head Island

A twenty minute ferry ride to Bald Head Island takes you into a truly unique environment where you can get away from it all. With no cars on the island, getting around requires a bike or a golf cart in which you have no choice but to breathe in the fresh air and admire the unmatched beauty of the island. It’s not difficult to fall in love with this area but we were happy to see Bald Head Island getting even more love this year.

Southern Bride & Groom Magazine recognized the Shoals Club as one of the most romantic North Carolina wedding venues. You can have a beachside ceremony or say “I do” in a romantic gazebo overlooking the Atlantic. Imagine all your friends and family boarding a ferry to your special event!

CNTraveler.com made a list of the 10 Best Beaches in North Carolina and our little island made the cut. This east coast state has around 300 miles of coastline but not all the beaches are alike. From popular Nags Head in Outer Banks and Emerald Isle to the quiet Holden Beach where no building is over 35 feet tall, there’s something for everyone. But Bald Head Island is first on the list where you can leave your stress behind. Besides avoiding crowded beaches, the island has marshes and maritime forest preserves to admire.

Travel Channel put together 15 Relaxing Fall Getaways and BHI was on the list of serene destinations perfect for cooler weather. Mill Valley, California was named as a prime spot for outdoor enthusiasts where you can take a hike through the redwoods as well as Shenandoah Valley with stunning views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Bald Head Island was named as the quiet island where you can find a peaceful silence hard to find anywhere else. The water is still warm in the fall and there’s a world-class golf course to enjoy.

Only in Your State took readers on a trip into the island showing a few of the many reasons we love BHI. They point out that we all become so accustomed to the hustle and bustle of life that we fail to realize that a step back in time to a simpler world is needed to relax and recharge. Bald Head has Island has 14 miles of beaches, Old Baldy: the longest standing lighthouse in NC, maritime forests, and an amazing golf course.

We can’t forget the pets! USA Today listed the Best Dog Friendly Beaches and BHI was named as an ideal beach to bring your four-legged friends. Dogs are allowed on island beaches off-leash from sunrise to sunset. Also on the list are Huntington Beach, California and Montrose Beach in Chicago was named the top beach for dogs. No need to leave your pooch behind, they belong on the family vacation too!

It’s great to see Bald Head Island getting such wide recognition and we look forward to a great year ahead of us. Plan your Bald Head Island vacation and see what all the buzz is about!
