5 Tips to Planning Your BHI Vacation

Your Vacation Home - The first step of planning your vacation is finding the perfect vacation rental. Getting Here - Bald Head Island is truly the place to go to get away from it all. A 20 minute ferry ride is taken to reach the island from the marina in Southport. Tickets have to be purchased in advance as ferry rides are on a set schedule. You can purchase tickets and see the ferry schedule here.

Pack Accordingly - BHI has a little of everything from marshes and preserves, miles of beaches, hiking and biking trails. Make sure you pack for every activity: swimsuit for the beach or the pool, a sweater for cool nights, golf and croquet attire, tennis shoes for outdoor sports. If you’re planning on soaking up some sun, don’t forget the sunscreen. You don’t want to come up short!

Shopping Tips - Each rental comes equipped with startup items but extras will need to be purchased and can be found at the Maritime Market. Wine and beer are also sold at the market but liquor is not sold on the island. Plan ahead to bring all the supplies you’ll need. Beach equipment and bicycles are available for rental on the island.
