Bald Head Island Goes Pink

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness month. This is an annual international health campaign organized by major breast cancer charities to increase awareness of the disease. A variety of events are held all over the world to raise funds for research into its cause, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure. The campaign also offers information and support to those affected by breast cancer. Bald Head Island dedicates a full weekend of events to this very important cause. 

On Saturday, October 8th, at 12 noon the Ladies Lunch & Fashion Show will take place. Enjoy a delicious lunch along with Pink Lemonade, Pink Treats and Fall Fashions. Tickets are $25 and seating is limited so call to make your reservation. From 4:30 to 6:00pm All About Art presents “Art in the Park”. This event will feature art by local island artists and photographer Alex Phillips to help benefit the cause.  

On Sunday, October 9th, at 8:30am registration begins for the 5K Pink Run and 1K Family Pink Walk. Put on your perfect pink outfit and support the courageous women who have struggled and continue to struggle with this disease. From 1:00 to 4:00pm Island Passage and Bald Head Blues will offer pink cocktails, wine, pink sweets and hors d’oeuvres while island models feature the latest in fall fashion, jewelry and accessories.

Raffle tickets will be available all day Saturday and Sunday with a chance to win prizes such as: a seven day vacation home package, a spa package, rounds of golf, fishing excursions and much more! Limited edition Pink Weekend T-shirts and cups will be on sale with all proceeds benefiting the cause.  

Bald Head Island invites families all year around to enjoy the beauty of the island, to relax and recharge. This weekend, Pink Weekend, Bald Head Island invites you to celebrate the incredible strength of women all around the world who have been affected by breast cancer. Together we can work closer to finding a cure!
