Bald Head Island Goes Pink 2015

Bald Head Island Goes Pink Susan G Komen Foundation

Imagine your perfect weekend.

Would you bring your friends and family? Or have a quiet weekend by yourself?

Practice yoga? Or go for a long run?

Go shopping? Eat good food?

Explore art galleries? Or browse designer homes?

Enjoy a wine tasting? Eat a lot of cake…?

What about all of the above, all in one weekend – and all in support of a good cause? Bald Head Island and the Susan G. Komen Foundation are excited to bring you just that.

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Bald Head Island is Going Pink the weekend of October 10th-11th to fight against the disease that personally affects so many of us each year.

Starting at 9am Saturday morning, October 10th, Bald Head Island will host a series of events dedicated to Breast Cancer Awareness Month, with a portion of every proceed going to Bald Head Island Pink

Highlights Include:

Saturday, October 10th

On Saturday, start your day with a gentle yoga and stretching session held by Betsy Helton Kimmel in the serenest of locations at the Old Baldy Lighthouse. Afterwards, bring your girlfriends along for a sneak peek at some of fall’s best fashion at the Ladies Lunch and Fashion Show presented by Ocean Outfitters, Ropa, Seaside with Coffee, Shoefly and ShopGirl

By mid-afternoon, make your way to Maritime Market for wine and sweets made by our local bakery, and around 3:30pm find yourself at the Commons at East Beach for Art in the Park – a whimsical art gallery of sorts put on by local artists in order to benefit the cause.

Sunday, October 11th

On Sunday morning, throw on your best pink and bring the whole clan for a 5K Pink Turtle Trot Fun Run/Walk around Bald Head Island’s Maritime Forest and the beautiful sandy beaches. Sponsored by The Bald Head Island Conservancy, The Pink Turtle Trot is the perfect event for the whole family to join!

Around 11:30am, add white to your pink for a round of Golf Croquet with refreshments and fun – (beginners welcome!)

Or if croquet is not your thing, spend the afternoon perusing a showcase of designer homes, open for your viewing pleasure from 10am – 4pm around the island. Just make sure to stop by Island Passage around 3:30pm where they will be showing their support for breast cancer survivors with pink cocktails, hor d’oeuvres, and a portion of all proceeds going to the cause.

Rounding out the weekend, there will be a 5:30pm Pink Ribbon Service at the Bald Head Island Chapel to honor the memory of our loved ones and celebrate our Breast Cancer Survivors.

Following the service, Riverside Adventures will hold a Pink Sunset Celebration on the beach complete with corn hole, music, games, and s’mores. Yes – s’mores on the beach, what could possibly be more fun than that?

The island offers everything from housing, to food, to fun to make it easier for you to show your support for October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the Susan G. Komen Foundation. We hope to see you there!
