Why It's Time to Go Pink on Bald Head Island

In 2015 in the U.S. alone, there are 2.8 million women with a history of breast cancer and 292,130 new cases of breast cancer will be diagnosed.  A total of 40,290 woman will die this year of the disease.

BHI Pink Weekend celebrates and salutes the incredible strength and courage of the women who have struggled and continue to struggle with this disease.  Although our home is a small island, together we can achieve a big mission –- that each of us have a lifetime to achieve our dreams.

Join us this Friday through Sunday as we celebrate, honor, and raise awareness for all those affected by breast cancer. Take part in these events and much more:

5k Turtle Trot

On Sunday morning, throw on your best pink and bring the whole clan for a 5K Pink Turtle Trot Fun Run/Walk around Bald Head Island’s Maritime Forest and the beautiful sandy beaches. Sponsored by The Bald Head Island Conservancy, The Pink Turtle Trot is the perfect event for the whole family to get their endorphins pumping for the day ahead. Sign up here.

Gentle Yoga for the Cure

Betsy Helton Kimmel of Bald Head Island Yoga is excited to offer a Gentle Yoga and Stretching Workshop to be held at the Shoals Club on Saturday, October 10th at 9:00 am. This is a great opportunity to experience a gentle yoga class in a stress-free environment. For more information on why beach yoga is so beneficial for your health, read more here. To book ahead contact Betsy at 404-426-7515 or email her at [email protected].

Showcase of Designer Homes

6 homeowners of Bald Head Island have been generous enough to open their homes to the public for the perfect Sunday afternoon golf cart cruise. Maps for your tour can be picked up at BHI Limited Offices, Maritime Market and Riverside Adventure.

Chapel Service

Please join our island minister, Garrett Albertson, and our island families in A Pink Ribbon Service to honor the memory of our loved ones and to celebrate our Breast Cancer Survivors.  This service will be held at The Village Chapel, one of the most peaceful settings on Bald Head Island.

Pink Sunset Celebration

End the weekend on a high note by gathering with your loved ones at Riverside Adventure’s Pink Sunset Celebration. We’ll be hosting a corn hole contest, roasting s’mores on the beach, and listening to music played by DJ Fray among other things.  We can’t think of a better ending to such a wonderful weekend than to laugh and play games with the ones you love on the beautiful shore of Bald Head Island. We hope to see you there.
