Get Romantic This Valentines Day on Bald Head Island

Valentines Day is right around the corner. Do you and your sweetheart have plans? If not, consider booking a romantic getaway to Bald Head Island. In addition to the natural beauty and solitude of the island, we’ve got some great events that will make your Valentine smile.

February’s Howl at the Moon party just so happens to fall on the 14th. What could be more romantic than watching the sun set and the moon rise with the one you love? Bald Head Island Limited Property Management will be spiking some hot cocoa and apple cider to keep everyone warm and cozy. The fun happens at Beach Access 39 from 4:30 - 6:30 p.m.  Chef Chip from the Maritime Market will be preparing a delicious soup for everyone, and a bonfire (complete with toasted marshmallows) will be blazing.  BYOB and bring an appetizer to share.  A bagpiper will return for a medley of Celtic tunes as the sun sets and the moon rises simultaneously at 5:55pm.

After the Howl party, head to MoJo’s on the Harbor for a delicious Italian four-course Valentines Day meal. The menu includes a sumptuous looking lobster with pasta and champagne sauce and a filet and shrimp entrée paired with red pepper risotto.  Dinner is just $95 per couple, and the best part - all wines are 1/2 price that evening!  Call MoJo’s to make your reservations at 910-457-7217.

Looking for the perfect way to unwind? Why not yourself and your sweetheart to a relaxing couples massage from Island Retreat Spa and Salon? They'll be open Friday, February 14 and Saturday, February 15 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Enjoy 10% off any couples massage, or 10% off any two or more treatments. And, to sweeten the deal, each couple will receive complimentary Champagne and a gift box of delicious chocolate fondue wafers from the Melting Pot. Pop in to purchase a gift card, and you will also go home with a chocolate fondue gift box for your Valentine. Call Island Retreat Spa and Salon at 910-454-0333 to book your appointment, or book online.

On Saturday, February 15, the Maritime Market has put together an incredible Valentine's Sweetheart Dinner.  The talented Chef Chip will transform the deli into a romantic bistro, where the evening begins with complimentary champagne & cheese platter at 5:30 p.m. The prix fixe menu features a first course of lobster and roasted red pepeer bisque, followed by a grilled petit filet paired with a lump crab galette with Béarnaise sauce. For dessert: a decadent triple chocolate brownie served warm with sea salted gelato.  The entire evening is only $50/person.  Reservations are required by February 10, and can be made on-line at http://www.maritimemarketbhi.com/events.aspx.

Also on Saturday, February 15, the Bald Head Island Club  is throwing a Winter Olympics Dinner. Come together to watch the race for the gold as the nation competes in this year’s games in Sochi, Russia. This Russian-themed event will be a true winter delight so dress in your fur caps and snow boots. The menu is also Russian themed, with dishes like borsch shooters, oysters on the half shell with caviar, lightly smoked sturgeon, Russian cottage cheese pancakes and more. The evening's scheduled Olympic events to be viewed on the big screen are: Alpine Skiing, (Women’s Super G), Men’s Short Track, Speed Skating and Ski Jumping. Cocktails start at 6 p.m. and dinner starts at 7. The cost for this event is $35 inclusive. Call the club at 910-457-7300 for more information or to make reservations.
