Author Kerri Topping Schedules Several Book Signings on Island in August

Author Kerri Topping, long time Bald Head Island vacationer and fan, will be doing several readings from her new young adult novel on the island during the month of August.

The novel, entitled Hunter Crispian and the Little Brother of War, takes place on Bald Head Island. Although Topping changed the name to Cape Fear Island, she says, “there is no mistaking the island to those familiar with it!”

The hero of the novel, fifteen year-old lacrosse player Hunter Crispian, gets involved in some strange happenings while sailing to the Bahamas with his family. He and his sister and best friend get sent back in time to 1711! They land smack into the middle of a highly-charged conflict between two Native American Indian tribes, and when the tribal chiefs declare a "Tewaarathon" or lacrosse game known as "Little Brother of War," Hunter and Chase soon learn that this will be no ordinary lacrosse game. Win and the children shall go free. Lose and Hunter will die.

In addition to doing some book signings, Topping will be hosting a raffle for two STX Profile lacrosse sticks. One ticket will be awarded for each book purchase. There will be two drawings:  Fridays August 9 and 16 at 5 p.m. at the BHI Conservancy.

Topping's reading schedule is as follows:

On Friday, August 2, Topping  will be in the Harbourside Pavilion during the pirate invasion beginning at 4:30 p.m. and will be selling and signing books.

On Saturday, August 3, she will signing books at the BHI Conservancy from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.

On Wednesdays, August 7 and 14,  join Kerri for a  book signing at the Sunset Social in the in the Harbor.

On Thursday, August 8, Kerri will do a book reading and Q&A session at All About Art from 4-6 p.m. Children are welcome, and will learn about the writing process and have the opportunity to paint pictures about the story.

The book is available from Topping at any of these events, or at the BHI Conservancy.
