Named for the other lifesaving stations along North Carolina’s
coast and for station keepers who lived on Bald Head, the streets
and alleys of Cape Fear Station easily accommodate the electric
carts and bicycles that replace cars on the island. With paths laid
out for walking and cycling, porches placed within “chatting
distance” of sidewalks, and public areas centrally located,
virtually every aspect of Cape Fear Station facilitates man’s
interaction with his family, his neighbors, and the natural world
around him.
