Labor Day Line-up

A three-day salute to beach music kicks off another celebratory weekend on Bald Head Island Aug. 29-31 as Labor Day ushers in more sunny days, cooler nights and spectacular sunsets.

This year's Beach Music Extravaganza features three of the most popular groups in the region—the Band of Oz, Key Lime Pie and The Catalinas. It all starts Friday night, Aug. 29, at the Harbourside Pavilion with a Red, White & Blue Shrimp-A-Roo and performance by The Catalinas.

The fun continues Saturday afternoon at the Harbourside Pavilion with a cookout and concert by Key Lime Pie, sponsored by Bald Head Island Limited and The Island Agency, and continues through the evening at Eb & Flo's Steam Bar, overlooking the island's picture postcard harbour with more music by Key Lime Pie.

The extravaganza culminates in an old-fashioned Texas Bar-B-Q on Sunday evening at the Harbourside Pavilion while the Band of Oz entertains.

Keeping things lively between music and dining treats are a Parade of Homes on Saturday from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. and Wine & Music at The Hammocks from 4 until 6 p.m.

Topping off Saturday evening is the 6th Annual Shoals Club Labor Day Party for members and their guests.

Sunday, Aug. 31, brings the Labor Day Fun Run on the beach as well as a 5K. And for those with more leisurely pursuits in mind, there's a Sand Castle Building Competition in the afternoon.
