Passenger Ferry and Tram Service

Bald Head Island's passenger ferry and tram service is run by Bald Head Island Transportation, Inc. The mainland ferry terminal is located at Indigo Plantation and Marina in Southport, NC.

Barge Service

Bald Head Island Limited's barge is available for carrying cargo, vehicles, supplies and equipment to the island. It arrives and departs from the barge landing at Deep Point Marina off Moore Street near the Southport-Fort Fisher State Ferry Landing.

Contractor Ferry and Contractor Service Village

A contractor ferry leaves from Deep Point Marina off Moore Street in Southport, where contractor mainland parking is available. A contractor parking lot located on the island at the end of Edward Teach Wynd near Federal Road offers contractors locked storage, modular shelter, restrooms and vending machines.

Golf Cart Sales, Rental & Repair

Bald Head Island Limited's Vehicle Sales & Maintenance facility, located on Edward Teach Wynd in Service Village, is an authorized E-Z-Go electric cart dealer. Cart repair and maintenance service is offered, and cart rental is available for long-term (four-year) leases, or on a daily, weekly or monthly basis.

A fully equipped and staffed maintenance department provides repair and maintenance management for island homes on Bald Head Island Limited's Property Management program. Annual service contracts are also available for homes not affiliated with a rental agency.

Post Office

The Village of Bald Head Island post office is located on Lighthouse Wynd, across from Old Baldy lighthouse and next door to the Village Hall. Window service is available from 1-3 p.m., Monday-Friday. Mail may be dropped off or picked up at the post office at any time.

Recycling

Property owners and guests who wish to recycle aluminum, glass, plastic, newspaper, mixed paper and junk mail may separate these materials and take them to the Solid Waste and Recycling Center located on Edward Teach Wynd, just past the Fire Station.

Trash Pick-up

From Memorial Day through Labor Day, the Public Works department picks up trash twice a week. From Labor Day through Memorial Day, trash pickup occurs once a week.

Utilities

All utilities are installed underground and require initial hookup and monthly service charges. The Village of Bald Head Island Utility Department offers water and sewer service; Progress energy, electric; AT&T, telephone and DSl Internet; and Tele-Media Corporation, cable television service.
