Bald Head Island’s passenger ferry service is run by Bald Head Island Transportation, Inc. The mainland ferry terminal is located at Indigo Plantation and Marina in Southport, N.C.

Medical
All Bald Head Island phones are part of the Brunswick County 911 Emergency System.

There is a basic medical treatment room on the island at the main fire station and all paid firefighters are paramedic-level certified. Advanced Life Support and Basic Life Support ambulance units are available for transportation to the ferry, as well as emergency transportation at the Indigo ferry landing to Dosher Memorial Hospital. Dosher Memorial is located on Howe Street in Southport, only a few minutes from the mainland ferry terminal. Additionally, Brunswick Hospital on US 17 South is just 20 minutes away, and New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington is 30 miles away.

The Southport Rescue Squad is always on call to provide emergency medical treatment and transportation to area hospitals.

Police and Fire
The Bald Head Island Police Department offers community policing services, and requires emergency medical technician certification of all officers.

Emergency phones are located at the creek access/ boat launch site off of North Bald Head Wynd, the Ibis Roost Clubhouse, Royal James Landing poolside area, Timbercreek poolside area, the Village Fire Station, the Post Office and beach accesses #9, #13, #23, #24a, #26, #30, #35, and #42.


Vehicle Maintenance
Bald Head Island Limited's Vehicle Maintenance facility, located on Edward Teach Wynd in Service Village, is an authorized E-Z-Go dealer. We lease golf carts on long-term (4-year), daily, weekly or monthly timeframes. Customers leasing or renting electric carts will find full-service cart maintenance available at Vehicle Maintenance. Our expert staff will also make repairs to gas or diesel-powered vehicles, on a very limited basis. For information, please call 910-457-7333.
