September 2010

Dionysus

Wente Morning Fog Chardonnay 2008
Enjoy aromas and flavors of green apple and tropical fruits, balanced by subtle oak, cinnamon and vanilla from barrel aging. With a mouth-filling body and balanced acidity, this wine delivers a medium-long, refreshing finish. http://www.wentevineyards.com/wine/vineyard_selection/morning_fog_chardonnay/

PETS Petite Sirah 2007
This wine is our classic PETS with big and dark purple color, and very generous with ripe fruit. It is a rich, pomegranate scented monster of a wine which packs a punch yet finishes soft, with concentrated plum, blueberry and supple tannins. The finish is generous and fires on all cylinders, fruit, color, concentration and silky oak tannins at the end. http://www.vinumcellars.com/vinum/index.jsp

Chard-No-Way Chenin Blanc 2007
Clear light straw color. Delicious lemon-lime aroma with a subtly earthy back note. Fresh, crisp and tart, ripe and juicy white-fruit flavors built on zippy acidity. http://www.vinumcellars.com

Villa Maria Sauvignon Blanc 2008
New Zealand sets the benchmark for this explosively flavoured style, which typically assails the senses with green capsicum (bell-pepper) and gooseberry characters through to lush passion fruit and tropical fruit overtones. Sauvignon Blanc complements the fresh flavours of seafood, shellfish and white fish as well as tangy foods. Citrus or garlicky sauces enhance the effect. http://www.villamaria.co.nz/

Fess Parker Riesling 2008
Riesling is a great Sunday Brunch wine with notes of honey, peach, pineapple and luscious apricot on the nose and palate. www.fessparker.com

Parker Station Pinot Noir 2008
Medium to full-boided Pinot is packed with juicy strawberry and cherry fruit aromas and flavors, kissed with clove, sage and nutmeg notes on the finish.

BEER WINE OF THE MONTH--- Bell's Brewery(Kalamazoo, Michigan) 2010
Spicy and fruity, Oberon is the color and scent of a sunny afternoon!!

BEER OF THE MONTH--- Carib Lager(Trinidad) 2010
Carib is a lager of European origin. It is a pale golden straw colour with a rich head formation. It is slightly aromatic, with a neutral balance between malt and hops, sweet and bitter. Medium-bodied mouth-feel leads directly to a semi-dry finish with only a hint of bitterness.

Raymond Reserve Sauvignon Blanc 2007
Grapes come primarily from small, secluded vineyards in the eastern portion of the Napa Valley where day time temperatures tend to be slightly warmer than the main valley floor and have generally shorter growing seasons. This area is ideal for producing crisp, clean, mineral and melon overtoned Sauvignon Blanc fruit. We also source grapes from a small vineyard south of Yountville with characteristically citrus toned Sauvignon Blanc fruit. The 2007 growing season began with early bud break, followed by mild spring and summer weather patterns, extending ripening periods for many varietals. Raymond’s Sauvignon Blanc grapes were picked the last week of August and the first week of September.
