Under general supervision, provides set up, break down, food and beverage services to patrons for catered events according to established guidelines in a prompt and courteous manner. Works with initiative and reports to the Banquet Supervisor.
Reports to catered event location for instructions from appropriate supervisor. Reviews catered event menu including special instructions regarding appropriate wines or specialty items and asks questions focused around event etiquette. Sets up/breaks down and transports tables, chairs, linens, table settings and may adjust room/furniture arrangement. Prepares and sets tables, vacuum floors, dusts dining room, and/or cleans kitchen area or staging area. Provides food and beverage service to patron during event. Prepares routine food items such as bread trays, salads, etc. Observe diners to fulfill any additional requests and to perceive when the meal is complete. Stocks staging or service area before; during, and at the end of each event/shift to ensure expedient service to patrons by having all needed supplies available. Buses tables when necessary. Polishes and wipes down glassware, silverware, serving plates, etc. Additional Functions: May train new wait staff. Performs other related work as required.
Graduation from high school or equivalent and one year of experience as a wait person/catering staff including possession of effective oral communication skills; or an equivalent combination of training and experience to provide the required skills, knowledge and abilities. SPECIAL REQUIREMENT (S) Requires the ability to exert up to 40 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for sedentary work. This type of work usually requires walking or standing to a significant degree.
