Under direct supervision, maintains kitchen work areas, restaurant equipment, dishes, utensils, pots and pans in a clean and orderly condition. Reports to the Kitchen Manager, or Café Manager at the Maritime Market.


Scrapes food from dirty dishes and places them in racks or on conveyor to dishwashing machine; washes pots, pans, trays and some utensils by hand. Puts all clean pots, pans and dishes away in proper storage area. Maintains general cleanliness of kitchen area and café area by washing worktables, customer tables, walls, refrigerators, kitchen equipment and meat blocks; sweeps and mops all floors in kitchen and café. Segregates and removes trash and places it in designated containers; cleans trash containers. Puts all supplies away, in their designated place, making sure all stock is properly rotated, by hand and/or hand truck. Additional Functions: Help set up for any special events at the Maritime Market. Performs other related work as required.


Ability to read, write and understand English and some restaurant or dishwashing experience preferred; or an equivalent combination of training and experience to provide the required skills, knowledge and abilities. SPECIAL REQUIREMENT (S) Requires the ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
