King Estate Wine Dinner Aug. 14

The Shoals Club is excited to announce a very special King Estate Wine Dinner on Wednesday, August 14 at 6 p.m. The carefully composed menu, designed to showcase a full range of King Estate wines, celebrates fresh ingredients and sumptuous flavors. Gary Lynn, the Eastern U.S. Director of Sales for King Estate, will be joining us at the dinner to present the wines. In addition to the exceptional wines offered at the dinner, King Estate is also providing our chef with organic produce grown at the winery, including fresh herbs, garlic buds, Swiss chard and blueberries for the dessert course. King Estate is located southwest of Eugene, Oregon and produces Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and limited amounts of Chardonnay. Founded in 1991 by the King family, King Estate is committed to producing wines of exceptional quality using organic and sustainable farming methods, meticulous fruit selection, impeccable winemaking practices and judicious blending. The beautiful estate of 1,033 acres is certified organic and includes 470 acres of organic vineyards, as well as 30 acres of fruits, vegetables and flowers. The Estate is crowned by the charming, European-style winery, where the winemaking process is also certified organic. Bald Head Island's newest restaurant, Delphina, is now open in the former River Pilot location in the BHI Marina. Delphina, described a New World Cantina, serves authentic and original Mexican cuisine with a Cuban and Spanish flair. Executive chef Carlos Rojas created the menu using his most treasured and favorite family recipes.

The diverse menu features interesting small plates like Crab Salad Stuff Avocados and Mexican Bruschetta as well as old favorites like nachos and chips with your choice of salsa, guacamole or queso. Tacos come with a variety of fillings: pulled pork, shrimp with jicama and watercress, carne asada and fish with mango pico.  Cuban sandwiches, quesadillas and a variety of salads offer lighter choices. Entrees include Tilapia a la Veracruzana, Spaghetti a la Poblana with Grilled Chicken Enchilado and Curracso Cubano, or marinated flank steak. A kids' menu is also available. Delphina is open for lunch, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and starting May 15 they'll be open for lunch and dinner, from 11 a.m. - 11 p.m.

Tucked inside Delphina is the Sandpiper Coffee and Ice Cream, which offers baked good in addition to a variety of coffee drinks and 16 homemade ice cream flavors. Sandpiper is open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, and will stay open until 11 p.m. over Memorial Day weekend.

Stop into Delphina and Sandpiper on your next visit to Bald Head Island.
